Good news: Doctors can treat Mycoplasma Genitalium with a single dose of antibiotics.

Bad news: Mycoplasma Genitalium is tough to treat. Your doctor might need to try various medications before it’s successfully treated. If left untreated, it can lead to impotence, infertility, and chronic infection.

Symptoms, if you have it:

  • Sometimes, it doesn’t show any symptoms.
  • You might experience pain or burning while urinating.
  • Pain during sex.
  • Lower belly pain.
  • Abnormal vaginal discharge (possibly watery).
  • Bleeding between periods.
  • Watery discharge from the penis.

What to do:

  • Visit your GP, Community Nurse, or STD Community clinic. Search online for a nearby clinic. Testing is easy, and a small urine sample is all the doctor needs.

What NOT to do:

  • Avoid having sex with others.
  • Don’t share beds, underwear, or clothing.
