1. Chlamydia is the most commonly reported communicable disease in Australia.

3. Frequently asymptomatic – 85%-90% have no symptoms
4. Simple to test and treat.
5. Immunity to a new infection is not provided by a previous infection.

Pregnancy – Ectopic pregnancy, Premature rupture of the membranes, preterm delivery, and low-birthweight infants
Reactive arthritis: arthritis, sometimes with concurrent rash and gastrointestinal symptoms
